A Day Out To // The Royal Exchange

If you have a weak spot for luxury goods, enjoy being in a luxurious environment but don’t enjoy the crowds on busy shopping streets, then The Royal Exchange should be your shopping destination of choice. Located just a minute’s walk from Bank station on the Central Line, the Royal Exchange is a collection of 30 boutiques within the grand building which was previously home to the Stock Exchange. With timeless luxury brands ranging from Hermés, to Jo Malone, to Penhaligons, I thought it the perfect place to search for the ideal gift for Mother’s Day.

Since I bought Mum a bottle of the Naranji (now named Orange and Bergamot) hand lotion before we took our first trip to the Maldives, Molton Brown fragrances have always reminded us both of sunny climates, and relaxed, enjoyable times together. It’s become a tradition that I buy Mum something from Molton Brown each mother’s day, so their boutique within the Royal Exchange was my first port of call. The window display was an ode to the brands newest launch; Blossoming Honeysuckle and White Tea, a delicate floral scent which I just know my mum would adore.
A beautiful timeless gift to treat your Mum on mothering Sunday to is jewellery, so I also popped into the Links of London store. The staff were so helpful, not minding at all that I wanted to pick up and try on almost every rose gold piece in the store! My mum shares my obsession for the colour, so it was hard to choose between all the stunning accessories. The Essentials Pave collection caught my eye, with the delicate diamond clusters set into the rose gold vermeil base.
I’ve definitely got my mum to thank when it comes to my taste in beauty and cosmetics, I was forever pinching her Lancome blush and Kiehls body lotion when I was younger, so what better way to say thank you than treating her to a box of her favourite things from Kiehls. I absolutely adore the presentation of the gift boxes; especially for Mother’s day the store at the Royal Exchange fills a box with pretty PotPourri and you can choose which products you’d like to fill it with. I chose some classic pieces such as the Creme de Corps, as well as new launches which are beauty blogger favourites, such as the Micro-Blur Skin Perfector.
My final stop was Penhaligons, and I was drawn in by their beautiful window display (first image of this post) themed around daffodils for their new Ostara fragrance launch. The delicate fragrance is sure to be a favourite for Mother’s day, with notes of Hyacinth, Hawthorn and Cyclamen and a warmth created by beeswax, white wood and Vanilla. The store is infused with the scents of the brands most popular fragrances which you can sample to decide which one is best for you, or Mum! Upon purchase of Ostara, the store at the Royal Exchange is also gifting this beautiful notepad, with pressed scented flowers – a lovely additional gift for Mothers Day!
After spending the afternoon shopping, my final destination was The Grand Café inside the Royal Exchange building. A stunning location and a blogger’s dream (see my Instagram!) with marble floor and giant blooms in the centre of the ballroom-esque room, it’s the perfect spot to recharge before you make your way home.
