Perfect Hair Day Products

There are some days when you really really just need your hair to comply. Like yesterday for example I was out shooting outfit pictures with Hayley and a bad hair day would just ruin the pictures! So after lots of experimenting I seem to have a routine which I know will give me shiny, lightweight, non frizzy hair which is easy to style.
Here are the products I use:

You’ll be pleased to hear that my Shampoo / Conditioner combo is less than £5 a bottle (and very often on offer in places like Tesco so you can get it for even less) and it’s from the Essence Ultime range by Schwarzkopf. I first tried the range at a friends house, she had the Omega Repair range and I had such a good hair day after trying it that I just had to try out the range for myself. The Blonde & Bright range is ideal for me right now, it’s been over a month since I last had my hair coloured so this range really brightens all the blonde tones, giving it a freshly coloured look. I always use the Shampoo and Conditioner, but if you’re married to your current conditioner then I’d say using the Shampoo on its own would work just fine.
After towel drying, I always spritz through the Schwarzkopf got2b Mind Blowing Xpress Dry Styling  Spray. Spraying all through the layers of my thick hair helps to cut down drying time dramatically, and it stops my hair from clumping and matting together.. #longhairproblems. It detangles too, but my mane needs additional help in this area so I like to bring in an oil, and my current favourite is the . It smells incredible and my hair is more manageable, shiny and feels much healthier after I apply through the ends.
There are other products which I will add into my routine depending on my current hair situation. At the moment, I’m also using the about once a week as it helps to seal in my colour, and prevent the ends from drying out with the blonde dye. I’ve got the shampoo and conditioner of this too, and if my hair ever goes slightly brassy then I’ll use this as my SOS kit for getting back to the fresh-from-the-salon colour.
I purchased on Vivianna‘s recommendation and at first I was pretty disappointed, feeling like it just clagged up and weighed my hair down. It’s a 5-in-1 styling treatment which promises to add volume, smooth, condition, polish and add strength – phew! After casting it aside in favour of my usual products, I turned back to it recently, using far less, and now I can see what the fuss is about. It instantly smoothes hair, and by using less of the product it doesn’t add any weight to my hair. Static hairs are much less of a problem and my hair stays smooth for far longer between washes, and I notice less breakage when I brush my hair, and that’s got to be a good thing!
The final step in my routine is to use the Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible oil. Even after curling or styling I often will want to de-puff my hair a little more, and smooth down any flyaway (or on days when I don’t use heated appliances, I just want to create more separation instead and sleekness) and for this I reach for the Invisible Oil. It’s so lightweight that it vanishes almost instantly upon application, but it is absorbed by any dryness in the ends of hair, tames flyaway and creates a sleek and shiny finish to any style.
With most of the above steps, I’ll use the Aveda Large Wood Paddle Brush. I used to be a fan of the Tresseme Paddle Brush but found it quite heavy and clunky, whereas the Aveda is so light, and is especially designed for long hair which needs detangling, and the design works to prevent breakage and stimulate the scalp to promote healthy hair growth. Who knew a hairbrush could have so many benefits?!
