Having a gel manicure is a guilty pleasure of mine – I love how gels last so much longer than a regular manicure, and ages ago I did a DIY At Home Gel French Manicure on the blog, and to this day it remains one of my most popular posts (despite the awful images & video!). Continuously purchasing the different gel colours does add up though, and as my collection of non-gel varnishes grew, and I lusted for their beautiful shades but the long lasting benefits of a gel, I began to search for a way of combining the two.
Enter the Ciate Geltox kit! I couldn’t believe my luck when I first discovered the kit at The Apartment during London fashion week, and the girls from ASOS Beauty told me how it can turn ANY nail varnish into a gel. I couldn’t wait to give it a go!
It makes me SO happy to tell you that I’m typing this out on day 8 of my at-home manicure using the Ciate kit, and my nails are still in perfect shape (and colour!). For less than the price of two salon gel manicures (if you live in London and they are totally over priced!) this kit provides all you need to turn any polish into a gel. The entire process (including dry time of your chosen colour varnish) is around 45 minutes. Yes I know, I know – it’s not the same pampering experience as sitting in a salon and getting it done properly, but hey, you’re saving tons of money and can choose any colour you like, so for me it’s worth it!
I made a short video giving a tutorial and review of the kit, so have a look if this is something which sounds good to you!
