We all know the importance of a well placed accessory. One that can elevate a plain outfit into a fabulous one, something small and subtle or grand and flamboyant – an accessory has the power to totally change a look. In Summer, when clothing is allowed to be minimal, accessories truly have their time to shine.
This summer in particular, I’ve found myself building my outfits around my accessories, so today’s post is dedicated to a few of my favourite Accessory trends, my favourite pieces for each trend, and of course, how to wear them
When it comes to handbags this summer, there seem to be three major trends; personalisation, straw bags, and pom poms. Personally I love all three! One of my favourite bags at the moment is this one from Boden, it was an absolute beach essential during my trips; roomy enough for a full day’s worth of essentials, and beautifully crafted in textured cotton, with giant pom poms for extra fun and fabulousness.
When it comes to straw bags, Rae Feather seems to be the designer of choice, and top of my wishlist is one of their initialled baskets. The straw bag trend works just as well when it comes to clutches, and if your budget doesn’t quite stretch to Rae Feather or the other designer straw pom pom styles, why not DIY? See how I turned a plain clutch bag into a pom pom masterpiece in one of my latest videos here.
While tote bags are the most popular choice for summer accessories, a satchel style bag is on trend and incredibly practical. With over shoulder straps and secure fastenings, they make a perfect choice should you be spending a day exploring.

Footwear also enjoys a moment in the spotlight in summer, with sandals being my favourite choice. On holiday, comfort and style are equally as important, and luckily there seem to be some beautiful styles that tick both boxes available on the high-street. I’m still lusting over the Valentino Rockstud sandals, but my more purse friendly favourites are below.
When there’s lots of skin on display, there’s a moment for jewellery to shine. I wrote a post about my Summer jewellery favourites here and still my preference for summer pieces remains light and delicate, with layered bracelets and beautiful rose gold statement pieces. Once again the highstreet has some beautiful options, but Pandora and Monica Vinader remain my favourites for those timeless pieces.
