During the festive party season, we all want our skin to be looking it’s absolute best. There’s nothing worse than having a bad skin day, so ensuring your skincare routine is working for you is so important during this time of year – especially when the elements outside can be battling in the opposite direction!
I like to begin my skincare routine the night before, ensuring my skin is hydrated and cleansed before treating myself to some intense moisture to guarantee a glowing completion the following morning. A thorough cleanse ensures my skin will be clear and able to absorb the goodness from my evening products, so I’ve been double cleansing beginning as always with a Micellar water. The Eucerin Micellar Water has been the one I’ve been reaching for over the past few weeks, it’s a three in one which removes even the toughest eye makeup while still being gentle on skin, and is effective on sensitive skins too – so even if your complexion is a little tender from the cold outside or dried out from the heating, it will be effective and gentle too.
For my body, the Eucerin body and shower oil not only cleanses, but ensures my skin’s moisture levels are where they should be, thanks to the Omega Oils within the gentle formula. Afterwards, I focus on the drier areas of skin with the replenishing cream, which gives long lasting moisture to knees, elbows and other areas which historically would need extra attention at this time of year. When I’m visiting friends and family over the festive season, I always ensure I pack this in my overnight bag, so I can replenish the skin after a blissful hot shower.
While my body moisturiser sinks in, I massage my skin with the Replenishing Cream for the Face, this one is a simple yet very effective moisturiser. Enriched with Urea and Lactate, the natural compounds bind moisture into the skin, getting rid of that tight feeling and instead leaving my skin feeling hydrated and soft. It sinks in almost immediately, so even if I am getting ready in a rush, it makes for the perfect makeup base. A BB cream is all I need to finish off a flawless complexion, I’ll be using my Clarins BB Skin Detox to even out my complexion without caking up my skin, and finishing with a dusting of mineral powder. My new PUR powder in the embellished compact makes for a fabulous handbag mirror as well as being perfect for mattifying on the go.
Moisturisation around the eyes is particularly important, all year round but especially during the party season when late nights and alcohol play havoc with our skin. The Eucerin AQUAporin ACTIVE Revitalising Eye Care has been especially created to improve the skin’s natural protection barrier. With a more hydrated under-eye area, puffiness and dark circles will be reduced, and best of all? It works just as well on sensitive skin that’s easily irritated thanks to the gentle ingredients.
The final step in caring for my skin before makeup application is my lips. This is the area that I suffer with the most during the colder months, but in my handbag you’ll always find the Eucerin Intensive Lip Balm. It’s not sticky or glossy, but just an effective solution for dry, cracked or chapped lips. Even when my lips are not sore, the ingredients help to moisturise and regenerate the natural protective barrier, meaning my lips are smooth and soft throughout the party season. Ingredients such as Licorice Extract and Primrose Oil calm and hydrate the lips, even working on those suffering from eczema or dry lips caused by medical treatment. I apply a thick layer before bed to really boost the moisturisation, but also keep it topped up throughout the day to avoid any chapping.
Smooth lips make for the perfect base for lipstick application, so I am not afraid to choose bold colours for my festive party look, this year i’ll be breaking away from festive traditions and wearing the ultimate pink Charlotte Tilbury shade to compliment my bronze smokey eye.
Hydration is key throughout the year when it comes to skincare, but during the festive party season, my Eucerin skincare routine makes if simple for me to ensure my skin is protected and nourished – and it’s all affordable too, so no need to splash out on an expensive new skincare routine. I’d love to know if you’ve tried anything from Eucerin before? How do you keep your skin party prepped over the festive season?
