How To Kickstart Your Day When You’re Just Not Feeling It

We all have off days.

I’m kinda having one today. I’ve got post holiday blues and I feel like the British Summer has come and gone – leaving us back with grey skies and a grey attitude to match. I know I’m not the only one whose mood is majorly affected by the weather but I’m determined not to let this ‘British Summer’ gloom get to me. While I’ve spent much of the morning trying to pull myself out of this ‘meh’ mood, it’s not easy! But I thought I’d try to turn it into a positive and share the ways that I’ve tried to make myself feel better.

Hopefully some of these tips might help you if you’re also feeling like you need a little but of a kick up the ‘you know where’ today!

Get Cracking!

On days like this, it is very tempting to just cancel the whole day. Be a bit of a hermit and mope around the house, living vicariously from one cup of tea to the next, but it definitely won’t make us feel any better. Instead, force yourself to get up, shower, and get on with your day. Yep it’s hard to find that initial spark of energy to make the decision to do so, but once you do, once you get some fresh air and get your body moving, you’ll soon feel the difference.

Tackle the To-Do list!

I love nothing more than a productive day, so tacking my to do list at least means that I will feel like I’ve accomplished something to day. Try scanning your to-do list and ticking off a few of those things which have been lurking there for weeks. For me, it’s changing my energy supplier (yawn) and doing some research into car insurance as well as other ‘life admin’ chores. But once their done, that high you feel from clearing some things off your mental to do list, is seriously addictive!

Get Moving!

This sounds kinda obvious, but any kind of exercise is a great help for lifting you out of a slump. As soon as I finish writing this post, I’m going to get myself to the gym, burn off some calories from last night’s Mac & Cheese, and I know I’ll feel a million times better.

Stay Away from Social Media

Ironic because as soon as I’ve finished typing away at this post, I’ll be sharing it on social media, hoping that you guys will see it on your social media timelines and click through to read it. But hey, now that your here, its probably time that you stop procrastinating and tune your efforts into something positive and productive. Social media often gets us down as we see people showing off their #bestlives, and it’s all too easy to make comparisons. On days like this, stay away from Instagram, just focus on You.

Get Creative!

For me, channeling my energy into something creative always makes me feel like I’m being productive and soon lifts me out of a funk. In case you couldn’t tell, today’s blog post is my attempt at doing exactly that, but it could be as simple as reading an inspiring book, or perhaps just doing something useful like cleaning your makeup brushes!

I’d love to know what you do to lift yourself up from a ‘meh’ day, let me know in the comments below!

xoxo
