Holiday Beauty Essentials : Winter Sun Edition

If you are escaping the British winter heading to warmer climates for some tropical sun, then you probably aren’t feeling as beach beautiful as you do before a Summer holiday – it’s hard to think of beach beauty products when you are wrapped up in your onesie after all!
But fear not! Here are my favourite beach beauty products to whisk away on your travels.

{ Origins VitaZing SPF 15 Energy-Boosting Moisturizer with Mangosteen * c/o }

Removing all makeup after months of sun-deprived skin is hardly fun, so I’m really glad I’ve discovered this moisturiser from Origins. The cream is white, but when applied to the face it is actually a tinted moisturiser, so I felt confident in just wearing this on my face until I had developed a bit more of a tan. It is fabulously moisturising so gives a dewy finish and enough coverage without preventing a tan!

The Body Shop’s Coconut Beautifying Oil definitely works hard to earn it’s place in your suitcase! It is a multitasking oil which I use in the evenings as a body lotion as well as in my hair. The blend of nut oils including The Body Shop’s fair trade Manula Oil is quickly absorbed into skin and leaves it feeling hydrated all evening, as well as adding a slight shimmer so enhance your tan. Anyone who has been travelling in Thailand will be aware of the powers of Coconut oil in your hair, and this oil is fantastic at de-tangling sea-stressed hair.

The Charles Worthington Takeaways Sunshine Leave-in UV-Protection Spray comes in a tiny bottle so can easily be packed into your beach bag – ideal for day trips. By spraying hair and then combing through before sun-exposure, you are shielding your locks from the sun’s harmful rays, and the spray’s intense nourishment gives you a brilliant all over shine. I rely on this spray for combing through my hair after a dip in the sea, without it I’d have to keep my hair in a bun the whole time to avoid dreadlocks! If you have coloured hair, this is a must as it also protects against dullness and colour fading.

{ Origins Modern Friction for the Body * c/o }

I used to avoid exfoliating during my holiday at all costs, as I was sure it just got rid of my tan, but I was recently told that exfoliating during your holiday actually makes your tan last longer, so on my recent trip to St. Lucia I packed the Origins Modern Friction of the Body after I had loved the face version so much. This citrus-scented exfoliant uses rice starch to banish dirt and dead skin, yet it isn’t as rough as normal exfoliators, so it is ideal if skin is a little tender after a day in the sun. Aloe leaf juice also calms the skin and cucumber extracts soothe, as well as extracts of antioxidant rich Vitamin C which helps to heal skin damage. I used it every three days on holiday at the beginning of December and I still have a tan in the middle of January so I can confirm that exfoliating during your holiday DOES work!
The other product in my title image is a little pot of Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief Moisturiser which I received as a free gift with purchase. It is a very light gel, rather than creamy moisturiser and I find it incredibly refreshing to apply at night after removing my evening makeup. If your skin is feeling a little tight following sun exposure, this moisturiser will quench your skin, and in the morning your skin will look much healthier!
