Clinique Skinnovation Event at Harrods

After enjoying the YSL Skinnovation event at Harrods so much, I couldn’t wait for the next instalment  this time with Clinique. Julia Cox, the company’s resident skin care expert, started off the evening with a quote from Leonard Lauder; “To know where you’re going, you have to know where you’ve come from.” We were then shown a video touching on Cliniques story over the past few decades; noticeably the Three Step System remains a cult product throughout the brands history.

Some of my all time favourite beauty products are from Clinique, including the ‘All About the Eyes’ concealer, which still hasn’t run out after being used almost on a daily basis for the past 5 years! It’s fair to say Clinique is a brand that I’ve always trusted, and has frequently stepped in and out of my beauty regime, so I couldn’t wait to find out more about the brand.

The glamorous skin care experts gave us all a one-on-one demonstration to show how the Three Step System can be tailored to all skin types depending on your needs and concerns. After filling out a quiz on the iPad which asked questions regarding lifestyle and skincare concerns, I was told that I required Type 3 – suitable for slightly oily skin tones, with pore size as a concern.
For those with dryer skin types, the repair wear laser focus is a key product; the award winning serum works to resurface the skin to give a vibrant look.
Clinique’s global makeup artist, Jenna Menard, has developed some bold colour palettes to encourage us to wear more colour on our eyes, and Julia showed us just how easy it is to incorporate colour into your look, using Clinique’s teal palette.
Sophie gets colour tested for her perfect foundation – the formula chosen in relation to her key skincare concerns.
The evening was a fantastic learning experience for us both; I had been having trouble with my foundation lately and Julia and the Clinique Skincare girls highlighted the importance in focusing on your pre-makeup skin care routine. Without creating a base that will absorb makeup, even the most premium moisturisers and foundations will look dull, or slide off on oily skin.
If, like me, you have been having trouble finding the correct foundation, then I would definitely recommend visiting a Clinique counter so that they can understand your skincare concerns and make some recommendations.
So thank you to the Clinique and Harrods team for a lovely evening, and I can’t wait to try out my new moisturiser and Three Step System!
