With Valentines day just around the corner, I thought now would be a great time to introduce to you my hobby / business that I run alongside my blog and uni (even though my final exam, which counts for 30% of my degree is TOMORROW! And I really shouldn’t be blogging!). So, let me introduce you to Fiction Candy Jewellery!
Fiction Jewellery started when I was 15, and raising money for a charity trip to Tanzania, to climb Kilimanjaro. Living in the sticks and not yet able to drive meant I couldn’t go out and get a normal job, so I spent my days at home making jewellery inspired by one of my favourite things in the world – sweets!
What started as a hobby, selling jewellery to friends at school, soon became an international business, and within a couple of years I was selling online to customers from every corner of the world, as well as selling wholesale to local and far flung boutiques.
I still make the jewellery by hand, from polymer clay and materials such as sterling silver and Swarovski crystals, and designs feature all of your favourite old fashioned sweeties, from Liquorice Allsorts and Dolly Mix, to Gummy Bears and Love Hearts.
As everything is handmade, I am able to make the jewellery exactly how my customers want it, depending on their favourite sweeties or just a different design. I currently make bracelets, necklaces, earrings, hair slides, rings, and cufflinks, but am always open to new ideas.
Prices range from just £5 for a love heart ring, pair of hair slides or earrings, up to £25 for a fast food bracelet (as you can guess, it takes a long time to make all of the charms!).
