Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful NYE and there aren’t too many sore heads this morning!
It is at this time of year when we really evaluate everything, and for me, recently I have been slightly struggling to keep on top of everything. With a demanding full time job doing PR & Marketing for a rapidly growing startup company, keeping the blog up to date with fresh content (and pretty pictures!) and still trying to enjoy a social life too, I’ve had to knuckle down and create a real plan of action. So 2015 for me is going to be my most organised year yet- hopefully! To give my blog a fresh start, I’m also thrilled to today be revealing my new layout, I hope you like it! As far as keeping myself organised, here is my plan of action for 2015:
Both my job and my blog require constant attention, and so planning ahead with them both is crucial. What I hope to stick to this year, is taking some time at the weekend to jot down everything that needs to be done in the upcoming week, so that I can manage my tasks more effectively. I hope to upload a new blog post every day this year, so I need to know which posts need writing, and what needs photographing, so that it is all scheduled to go out throughout the week. In the winter months, I can only do my photography at weekends, so it’s crucial that I have all the photos for the weeks posts done!
Something that I really need to work on is my procrastination! Even when my to-do list is overflowing, I’ll still become distracted by pictures of pretty candles on Pinterest, or the New In section on ASOS… it’s got to stop! I also tend to jump from one task to the next, meaning at the end of the day I often have lots of unfinished projects. Moving forward, I want to focus on one thing at a time, whether it is getting a blog post completely done; photography, text, tweets planned and scheduled, or a task I have to do at work, my 2015 goal is to ensure that when I start a task, I finish it, and not get distracted!
Ask anyone who knows me well, I’m incapable of just sitting down and relaxing. I feel the need to constantly be doing something, whether it’s sorting out a bookshelf, organising the desktop on my laptop (tragic I know, but I’m always taking screen shots and so my desktop gets cluttered up!), painting my nails or some other task. My inability to just sit and relax means I struggle to just sit and watch TV because I feel like my time would be better spent doing something else! This year hopefully by organising my time better, i’ll be able to find time to switch off, and just enjoy some me time!
My job as PR & Marketing manager means my work days are always super busy, and I don’t have time to do any tweets or anything during the day, even at lunch time, so I have to schedule all my social media posts before I get to work in the morning. I use Buffer because it’s so easy to use; this way I don’t have to think about it during the day when I’m busy with work tasks, but it’s nice to know that my blog and social media is still being maintained!
