Fresh Spring Makeup Favourites

Spring Is The Season For Change

And yet while I haven’t been totally revamping my look as the weeks get warmer, I have been switching around a few different products to freshen up my beauty routine. Spring is also a season for new launches, and while it’s hard to try absolutely everything that emerges onto the beauty scene, I do try to test out as many launches as possible; but it’s only the very best that make it to my daily routine.

Over the last few months I have been really impressed by the innovations and updates from a few of my favourite brands; so here they are, why I love them, and how they’ve changed my beauty routine.

Firstly, a new fragrance duo from Jo Malone London. I adore the smaller sized scents as they make for perfect travel companions – and each time I use a new scent while I travel, if I catch a note of the fragrance afterwards, it always brings back fond memories of my trip. That’s exactly the case for Jo Malone’s The Bloomsbury Set, as Charlie and I shared the two scents below throughout our time in the U.S. Both equally wonderful on men and women, they’re incredibly wearable, sexy scents inspired by a group of free-spirited artists making up The Bloomsbury Set – who lived together in a country house in Sussex in the early twentieth century. The collection which launched in March features five fragrances which complement each other, and the two that Charlie and I share;   and , are equally as sensual worn alone or together.

Usually I’d opt for the Tobacco and Mandarin scent, the sweet pine and citrus notes gave the scent a fresh note, despite the herbal sage and tobacco undertones. Charlie would reach for Leather & Artemisia; and I just adored the woody notes on him, made even more masculine with the scent of leather too.

I was incredibly excited to try the collection; with promises of a comfortable yet matte finish, and the most beautiful pink shades, they sounded like my perfect lip products. I most certainly wasn’t disappointed – the whipped texture is unlike anything I’ve tried before and it makes the application incredibly smooth. Colour payoff is brilliant, incredibly vivid, and the shade selection is simply beautiful. Lasting up to 8 hours, although I felt the need to reapply after about 4 hours, I can confirm that my lips felt moisturised and comfortable throughout the day with no drying or cracking.

Any foundation promising full and flawless coverage certainly has a lot to live up to; but if anyone can pull it off, it’s Armani.

Having been very late to the party with the Luminous Silk foundation (which once I had tried it, it immediately became my favourite everyday foundation!) I was keen to try the as soon as possible. I like a matte complexion but without having all luminosity drawn from my skin. This foundation does exactly that. I also find it to be wonderfully long lasting – even on my chin and cheeks which are the areas where my makeup usually disappears.

It’s also very blendable which is great as it is full coverage, so it’s best to apply a small bit at a time and build it up where needed. I always like to finish with blush and bronzer to bring the shape back to my face; as it is such full coverage it can make the complexion look a little flat. If you love Double Wear for example, but want something a little more light then this foundation is for you – its a fabulous one for an everyday flawless finish.

In order to maintain a glowing complexion but added some much needed pink colour to my cheeks after the full coverage of the foundation, the perfect solution is the . It’s a light mineral formula that gives a glowing finish; 3 shades are available and my favourite is the dusky pink almost bronze shade. With a touch of shimmer in the formula, they give a beautiful fresh finish – and the packaging is fun and unusual too, so a nice change to my usual blush and brush combination.

I’ve always been a fan of Liz Earle’s Botanic Essence scents, with No.17 being one of my all time favourite fragrances. When I discovered No 20; launched to celebrate the brands 20th anniversary, I absolutely had to try it. In beautiful pink packaging, it’s a delightful addition to my dressing table, and the scent matches the feminine and beautiful exterior. With almost 90% naturally derived ingredients, you can immediately detect rose and jasmine within the perfume, as well as a sandalwood note making it incredibly wearable as an everyday scent.
I’d love to know if you’ve added anything new to your beauty routine for Spring, and have you tried any of these pieces?
