Our fabulous mummys do so much for us, and Mother’s day is our day to say a huge Thank You! This weekend mums across the UK will have been pampered and spoilt, and we thought what better way than to indulge in some Afternoon Tea at The Sanderson!
Having visited The Sanderson before, I was confident that it was worthy of taking the mums – their Mad Hatter’s Afternoon tea perfectly combines top quality treats, a little bit of madness, and the hand of a perfectionist – just some of the qualities of my wonderful Mumma!
We began the day at Berner’s Tavern across the road for a few drinks;
{ It’s our treat! }
Berner’s Tavern, (also like my mum!) is fabulous, elegant and fun; we drank delicious cocktails in the decadent bar area before heading over to The Sanderson.
I’ve reviewed the Afternoon Tea before (post here) so won’t go into all that detail again, but with the better lighting and better camera, i’ll just show you the pics of the day and include quotes from the original post.
“The crockery is designed by Luna & Curious, a delightful mix of English traditional ceramics, with a hint of their renowned eccentricity.” The menu is hidden in a book, and the sugar encased inside a jewellery box.
The fabulous three-tiered cake stand arrives to ‘oohs’ and ‘aahs’ from the Mummies!
Three layers of scrumptious treats, starting with a selection of sandwiches and mini savoury tarts.
“Smoked cumbrian ham with wholegrain mustard on sun dried tomato bread, cucumber and chive with cream cheese on spinach bread, as well as the traditional egg cress roll were served with classic home baked sweet scones, as well as an unusual, but equally scrumptious savoury scone with herb butter and fruit preserves.”
My favourite treat is the ‘Drink Me’ potion; as you drink it you taste the different flavours of Mango, turning to Passion fruit.
“The whimsical affair continued with sweet treats, including ‘Strawberries and Cream’ homemade marshmallow mushrooms and carrot meringue, served on a bed of pea shoots, a ‘Tick Tock’ Victoria sponge cake clock, and a melting mango cheesecake with a rainbow patterned white chocolate coating.”
If you can squeeze it in, there’s also ‘Jelly Wonderland’ where you can indulge in as much homemade jelly as you like!
It was a fabulously fun afternoon, and most importantly the Mummies had a lovely time!
