New Year’s Makeup – Sparkly Eyes & Neutral Lips

NYE is the ultimate excuse to dress up! Whether you’ll be hitting the town and celebrating in style at a bar or a club, or celebrating with family and friends, New Year’s Eve is always a glamorous occasion. This year, we’ve been invited to a Masquerade Ball, so while much of my face will be hidden behind this gold mask, I want to ensure that I create a bold, shimmering look for my eyes, along with a long lasting base to last the whole night, and subtle, pretty, well defined lips. Here are the products i’ll be using!

A Masquerade Ball means there will be lots of pictures, selfies and group photos so I need to make sure my base stays flawless the whole night. I’ll be using the Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer under my foundation to achieve a flawless finish; the primer helps reduce the appearance of pores and fine lines (of which I have a few after the late nights of Christmas!). Just like my favourite Instagram filter, the primer gives a soft focus effect, so it’s perfect when you want to achieve a photo finish to your makeup. The primer is £25 from Smashbox .
The main focus will be my eyes, and i’ll likely be using almost every Urban Decay product I own in order to achieve a bold, shimmering look! Starting with a base of Potion Primer for long lasting shadow, i’ll then use a neutral shade from my palette to give an even covering to my eyelids. Next, i’ll start to build up with the darker shimmering shades such as Mugshot, Darkside and Blackheart. The piece de la resistance will be Urban Decay’s Moondust Eyeshadows – they are super sparkly but still incredibly sophisticated thanks to the super refined glitter (unlike the chunky speckles that you used to wear from Claire’s accessories!). The effect that they create can be super intense, or just a delicate hue depending on how much you build it up. I’ll sweep the shadow over my entire lid, and build it up around the edges to give an intense twinkling sparkle.
For liner, nothing is more precise than a gel liner applied with a precision brush, and Urban Decay’s Super Saturated Ultra Intense Waterproof Cream Eyeliner is the darkest black liner that I own. I’ll be using their precision Perversion Angled Brush to draw a super-precise line of intense colour – the liner is made from triple black pigments which give the purest, deepest, most intense black imaginable.
To finish off my eyes, i’ll use my most multi-tasking mascara, the bareMinerals Lash Domination Volumizing Mascara. The wand is a crazy spiralling design which curls around each lash, ensuring every millimetre is coated with the intense black colour. The formula features nourishing minerals and protein complex which builds larger-than-life lashes, and the mascara works to lengthen, thicken and separate lashes. The mascara has super long lasting power too so I won’t need to worry about flaking as the night goes on! £14.95 from FeelUnique .
Finally for my lips, I’ll be using a matching Clarins lip pencil and gloss; their perfectly matches the Rosewood Shimmer Together, they give the illusion of perfectly shaped, plump lips in a natural yet sophisticated rose shade. While the liner, when used all over gives a long lasting shade, i’ll need to pop the Lip Perfector gloss in my clutch bag for the occasional top up!
