Guerlain Holiday 2016 Collection

When a favourite beauty brand releases their Holiday collection, I usually save it till close to Christmas, enjoying it during that festive time of year – savouring it. This collection was different. As soon as I laid eyes on the Guerlain Holiday 2016 Collection, I just had to dive straight in.

The makeup range is inspired by the brand’s iconic Shalimar fragrance – exotic, luxurious and yet incredibly wearable. Created with Natalia Vodianova and the brand’s creative director Olivier Echaudemaison, the collection has a touch of Indian luxury – embodying the culture’s love of embellishment and lavishness in every way. Unlike most traditional festive collections, the colour palette centres around a vivid blue shade, seen embodying the , an other-worldly perfumed iridescent body and hair powder. The bottle is reminiscent of the silhouette of the Shalimar scent, and the timeless pump on the dispenser delicately spritzes a sparkling mist of gold – which you can apply not only to the face for a hypnotic shimmer, but also to the skin on your decollate, shoulders, wherever you’d like a touch of shimmer. I’ve also applied it to my hair, so that as I move the scent is released again and again.

The is the standout piece for me in this collection – it’s incredibly wearable yet vivid shade, and the innovative silver jewelled case which hides a magnetised mirror, for application any time, anywhere. It’s a balmy consistency that you’d expect if you’ve come to love Guerlain lipsticks, making it wearable even during the chilliest of days, and the shade is flattering on fair and deeper skin tones alike.

My third favourite is the iconic that Guerlain have become known for; this time hand crafted spheres of delicate rose pink, a soft shimmering gold, and an aqua blue – shades reminiscent of an Indian Palace. The three bead shades could be mosaic tiles, and give a natural flush of colour and freshness on the skin, while colour correcting and warming the complexion simultaneously.

What Christmas pieces have caught your eye this  year? Do you have any favourites from Guerlain to add to your wishlist?
