My Effortless Hairstyle For the Festive Season

Gosh, doesn’t London Fashion Week feel like an absolute decade ago?!

Despite a hectic Autumn, I’m still reverting to the hair styles and trends that we saw during September’s fashion week when it comes to looking for inspiration on styling my hair over the holiday season. Backstage at shows such as ASHISH, the hairstyles were championing a true sense of self; exaggerated texture, volume and movement as well as embellishment and layering – all of which can be created by us at home, with the right selection of products.

Using the Toni & Guy hair care products, and focusing on the Gender Neutral trend that rippled through the shows during the SS17 shows, here’s my go-to hairstyle for the festive season.

I begin with the 3D Volumiser Spray to add texture and volume throughout the lengths of my hair, but also on the crown. I work it through towel dried hair before completely drying my hair. For those that need an extra hit of volume, try the Volume Plumping Moose for extra oomph.

Next I plait the hair loosely, in the style seen at the ASHISH show, check out my blog post here to see how the Toni & Guy stylists created an embellished look on the models during fashion week.

I pull out a few stands to create than slightly undone look, and then set my style in place using the Tousled Texture Creation Hairspray.

To finish, I add shine and a touch of fragrance with the Toni & Guy Illuminating Hair perfume. I especially love using this on day two or three after washing, or the day after a party to truly freshen up my look.

What I truly love about this style is the way that it embodies the trends we saw during fashion week, but can be truly adapted to any look or personality. I add a feminine edge to the style by wearing with a floral ASOS dress and metallic boots, giving a nod to the SS17 trends.

Keen to know more about the emerging hair trends from London Fashion Week, I interviewed Toni & Guy’s Global Brand Ambassador Indira Schauwecker.;

  1. What were top trends from LFW that you foresee being big hits for the new year?

We’re still seeing what is known as ‘undone’ hair but unlike previous seasons the style is more polished. Afros, extreme curls are also popular, for both men and women. At Men’s we saw quite a few shows where the hair was growing out and big. Finally, anything goes. For example, a strong cut married with strong colour works, it’s about being creative and having fun no boundaries.

  1. What’s your favourite style for a quick and easy hair look?

My go to is a messy ponytail! To achieve it, tease your hair at the crown and apply the TONI&GUY Sea Salt Texturising Spray on the lengths of the hair to give it more movement. Then, wrap your hair around the band and pull some pieces out in the front to give more definition to your face!

  1. Top tips for hair styles when on holiday?

My first rule is to be true to your hair. This means embracing and enhancing its natural style and texture.

If you’re trying to achieve that beachy texture apply the TONI&GUY Heat Protection Mist in the morning to nourish and protect whilst out in the sun, put hair up into a bun and once it dries it will create loose waves.

  1. What hairstyles would you recommend for someone who needs their hair colouring but hadn’t got time to get it done yet?

Create a side fringe by pushing the hair forward from high on the crown so you eliminate your natural parting. Or, style in a zig zag parting which will help to disguise roots.

How will you be styling your hair for the festive season?
