3 Accessories to Invest in this Winter

It’s no big secret, I’m an accessories girl!

When it comes to my wardrobe, the area that I like to invest in the most is my accessories. The pieces that work with multiple outfits and that I reach for on an almost daily basis are those that I like to splurge on the most, and I’ve already got 3 new favourite accessories that you’ll be seeing me wearing throughout the upcoming winter months and beyond.

The accessory that I’ve been most excited about recently has been my . Previously, I’d not lusted over any of the smart watches that are now aplenty in the marketplace, but when I first laid eyes upon the beautiful design of the Access watch, I knew this was the one for me. Having a watch that looks beautiful is my number one priority; I want to be able to wear my smartwatch with pride and have confidence that it elevates my outfits, as opposed to looking like a piece of tech that I have bolted on. The Sofie smartwatch is exactly that. I chose the gorgeous rose gold option (of course!) which features sparkling pavé around the watch face, and it’s a slim and feminine size. If you’ve been following my Instagram stories, you’ll have already spotted some of the incredible functionalities of the watch too; to begin with I was discovering new functionalities every single day! The latest of which is the ‘My Social’ functionality which lets you choose a picture from your Instagram to have as the watch background!

As well as functionalities that enhance the watch visually, it’s also become an invaluable part of my daily organisation. As a fashion blogger, it can sometimes be overwhelming keeping on top of important notifications and messages, but with the Access Smartwatch, a gentle buzz on my wrist alerts me to notifications on my Instagram and YouTube so I can be sure to keep on top of them without having to check my phone every two minutes. I find this most useful when at meetings especially; I can leave my phone in my handbag but just a quick glance at my watch will show me my whatsapp notifications or even my calendar, so I’ll know if there’s anything urgent I need to respond to, and what time my next meeting begins!

It also uses Android Wear to enable me to ask Google a multitude of questions, my most frequently used include; ‘OK Google, how far away is Dallaway Terrace / The Ivy Soho / Wherever my next meeting may be!’ and ‘OK Google, do I need an umbrella today?’ – once you start using it, it becomes incredibly addictive!

I could go on and on about the functionalities that I adore, but a couple more that I have to mention include the fitness tracker that not only lets me know how many calories I’ve burnt during a session, but actually sets me challenges such as a 30 day squat challenge, and counts my steps throughout the day – and also the in-built agenda so I am always on top of my daily schedule – it’s linked up to my Google calendar so now my phone, laptop and smartwatch are all linked together to keep me perfectly organised!

When it comes to investment pieces, I’m all about that price per wear, so when considering a new purchase it’s hugely important to me that the accessory in question will slot seamlessly into my wardrobe and work with my existing pieces, and yet also be a classic piece that I’ll be happy wearing every single day.

Lastly, and if you watch my YouTube channel especially this will come as no surprise; a pair of over knee boots! I recently published an entire video declaring my love for the style which make for the perfect winter investment, especially as they come back into fashion year after year. Many an outfit can be elevated simply with the addition of over knee boots; this one in particular includes a comfy knit, a pair of faux suede leggings (aka the comfiest combination ever) and is made smart and stylish with the addition of my most worn grey over knee boots. I chose to invest in a pair after wearing a pair last year almost every single day for four months – there was no doubt in my mind that this grey pair would become my new #ootd best friend – and I was right!

With the perfect chunky block heel height, they’re undeniably comfortable, in fact, I wore them on our final day in NYC recently while we shopped and explored; my Michael Kors watch told me that we’d walked over 25,000 steps, and yet my boots enabled me to strut with comfort and confidence all day long!

The highstreet and more affordable retailers have some fabulous options, but I firmly believe that OTK boots are worth the investment.
