A Touch of Festive Gold – Wearing Metallics this Christmas

Dress by Kate Spade // Coat by Club Monaco // Boots by L.K. Bennett // Bag by Chloe // Earrings by Monica Vinader // Bracelets by Monica Vinader // Sunglasses by Valentino

At this time of year, the city of London comes to life in a magical way as Christmas approaches. With sparkling lights illuminating the streets, mesmerising displays within store windows, and a jolly attitude replacing the usually grouchy outlook of commuting Londoners! I love exploring new parts of the city at this beautiful time of year (I recently shared my favourite festive spots in the city on YouTube) and, even more than any other time of year, I love to get dressed up – London is a city where you can truly walk down the street in a ballgown – you’ll turn some heads that’s for sure, but in this city anything goes, and I always love to be over dressed rather than under dressed!

When I purchased this golden dress by Kate Spade, it was an investment that’s for sure, and as with other pricey purchases such as my Valentino rockstud shoes, I vowed that I’d get as much wear out of it as possible. So far, I’ve worn it on at least 10 occasions, ranging from afternoon tea with grandparents, a friends book launch party, a Christmas work lunch, and festive drinks with friends to name a few! I plan on wearing it on Christmas day too – even though it’s a family affair, we all love to get glammed up, but still be comfortable for cooking, eating and relaxing at home.

On this particular occasion, I made it warm and comfortable for a day of shopping and a trip to the theatre with friends – complete with thermal tights and a thermal vest underneath, boots from L.K. Bennett  with the perfect heel height for being comfortable all day, and my favourite Chloe Tess bag for adding a luxe designer touch to the outfit. Another splurge for me this year was my dreamy coat from Club Monaco which I’ve been saving for smarter special occasions; it’s toasty warm, and oh so glamorous.
