How To Wear the 70s Now
I’ve always been a big fan of 70’s fashion, the era is the starting place of so many trends that remain strong today; whether you’ve recognised them or not! Chances are, you’ve got some 70s inspired pieces in your wardrobe whether it’s your favourite velvet finished piece, those investment Over-the-Knee boots, or perhaps a folk print dress. As well as these, boho blouses and midi skirts are staple pieces in my wardrobe, and this season for AW19, we will be seeing even more 70s inspired trends sweeping the designer stores and highstreet alike.
In the 70s, mass market and trend driven fashion became readily available, as well as designers such as Karl Lagerfeld and Yves Saint Laurent paving the way for designers. Smocking and shirring, headscarves and pearls are all trends that hail from the 70s era, as well as the muted tones and browns that are just so wearable. A retailer that’s nailing so many of the most wearable 70s trends right now is Reiss, with their and perfect both worn here, they’re investment pieces that are as on trend now as they were 50 years ago. Back in the 70s, we also saw the Diane Von Furstenberg wrap dress have it’s first moment in the spotlight, and it’s remained a style staple for women ever since, Reiss also have a super flattering version for AW19, .
There’s something about this look that has a real ‘Chloe Girls’ feel to it too, in fact this dress reminds me a lot of this (super expensive!!) dress from the brand that I was lusting for earlier this year. I finished the look with a (also SO 70s) and a pair of timeless . If you’re truly looking to get into the 70s vibe, finish this look off with a tonal headscarf and voila! The ultimate 70s style icon, that’s oh so relevant for AW19.
