A trip to Broadway Tower
Another spot to visit on your Cotswold trip is Broadway Tower. Located in the North of the Cotswolds, not too far from the Lavender fields, I would best describe it as a ‘little castle with incredible views’ – and it’s a gorgeous place to drive to, and enjoy a walk. You can pay an entrance fee to go into the tower itself, but we chose to just enjoy the beautiful tower from the outside (and also because of Covid, the number of people inside is hugely limited) and enjoy the endless vistas. The second highest point in the Cotswolds, I declared I could ‘almost see all the way to Wales’ – and frankly I probably could! We visited on a clear day, the only thing that could have made it better was if we’d bought a picnic with us!
I wore my gorgeous little H&M dress, dramatic enough to get a princessy photo by the turrets of the tower, but comfortable enough to wear for a long walk. A straw hat is an essential if you’ll be out exploring all day, and matching straw sandals and bag to complete the look.
If you’re driving around exploring, I’d recommend the Lavender fields and also a visit to nearby market town Chipping Campden; all can be done in an afternoon, or spread out over a few days! Switch off your sat nav, follow the ‘scenic routes’ and discover the beautiful villages in the surrounding area – the drive between then being just as magical as the settlements themselves!
