Riot of Colour Afternoon Tea : Harvey Nichols London
Afternoon teas are my weakness – I could quite literally live off a diet of scones, macarons, and abundant amounts of tea. Add to the mixture unlimited berry mojito cocktails and a group of girlfriends and you have the perfect Sunday afternoon; so I was super excited when one of my fabulous friends, Sophie, suggested we try the Harvey Nichols afternoon tea!
The Riot of Colour Afternoon tea, on the fifth floor of fashion mecca Harvey Nichols in Knightsbridge was launched to celebrate the new Riot of Colour range of products in store, and the tea is advertised as being ‘guilt free’, featuring gluten, dairy and alcohol free sweet treats – however after the third cocktail it felt anything but guilt free!
The ingredients are designed to give the body a ‘boost’ – perfect following an afternoon of shopping! Some of the ingredients include avocado oil, spirulina oats and acacia honey – those who know me well will know that I usually avoid healthy food – but Harvey Nics disguised the healthy benefits in the form of polenta and acacia honey cake; hibiscus and rose-tea-scented macaron as well as home-made scones with a choice of Riot of Colour jams: reduced sugar rhubarb and orange and ginger with star anise.
There are so many afternoon teas to try in London, and the emphasise on healthy ingredients at Harvey Nichols makes a change from the usual indulgences – and the modern feel of the afternoon tea was complimented by the arrival of the treats on a neon pink acrylic plate – no more trolleys and china crockery!
No afternoon tea is complete without a traditionally English scone or two, with jam and clotted cream – and at the Riot of Colour afternoon tea you can choose from a variety of homemade Harvey Nics jam, including blackcurrant and lime, or lemon and fig – yum!
So next time you are peckish while out and about shopping in London, why not enjoy a guilt free afternoon tea at Harvey Nichols – at £18 per person, it is great value compared to other afternoon teas in London, and you can even take away the treats which you don’t have room for!
