My first show at London Fashion Week AW14 was Holly Fulton’s show at Somerset House. For her Autumn Winter 14 collection, the designer featured her signature statement accessories in the form of pop art bags and shoes appliquéd over the classic silhouettes.
The models wore below the knee skirts and spectacles, inspired by business women; some even carried briefcases!
Holly told us that the inspiration for the collection came from her own lifestyle mixing fashion and business – the large coats and silhouettes were inspired by the 90s, but with muted neutral colours such as camel and slate grey, as opposed to the usual bright pop of colour.
Key prints included giant shoes (referencing the fact that this season was the first where Holly had shoes created purely for the collection) and a hand motif. Holly told us that ‘hands are the most important part of the body, I’m fascinated by them!’
The whole collection was more subdued and toned down than her previous collections, with hair and makeup to match with low twisted pony tails and neutral makeup.

Holly said how she loves pop art and using big prints, and this was shown throughout the whole collection. The simple hair and makeup enabled the full focus to be on the bold collection.
Still a fun and fabulous collection that you would expect from Holly Fulton, but with a sophisticated and toned down output.
Did you see any shows this season, or are you attending London Fashion Weekend?
