A statement accessory can truly bring any outfit to the next level, something fun and eye-catching can transform a plain outfit into something a little bit special, and may be the only accessory you need to complete an outfit.
You can choose a statement accessory to best suit your personality – whether polished, avant garde or street chic! A statement accessory can instantly dress up a simple outfit or revamp an old one, and eye catching details work well with monochrome ensembles but also with bold prints and textures.
My favourite way to wear a statement accessory is to pair it with a look that is otherwise a little plain, like a casual jumper, or a t-shirt and jeans. An eye-catching accessory is an easy way to dress up something simple and can be worn in many different ways. But, because they make such a, well, statement, they can also feel a little intimidating! So here are my style tips for wearing a statement accessory!
Firstly, keep the rest of your look quite simple. Here, I wanted the focus of my look to be on this Faux Fur Pom Pom scarf from Accessorize – with the pastel coloured pom poms I opted for neutral tones for the rest of the look, choosing a grey jumper, , and beige . This means that all of the focus is on the statement scarf, and we don’t have to worry about any clashing colours!
A statement accessory doesn’t have to be as bold as a pom pom scarf, sometimes all you need is a bright necklace to add a touch of glamour to a look, a neon or metallic necklace for example over a grey t-shirt is one of my favourite combinations! Equally, my favourite way to make boyfriend jeans look feminine and fabulous is to add a pair of heels and a statement necklace.
If you’ve got an event at work perhaps that requires an all black outfit, why not add a large statement necklace in rose gold, or silver perhaps? While working at Mulberry we all had to wear black on the day of the fashion show, so I paired a black T shirt and jeans with heels and a chunky necklace.
