Lip balms that look like Macaroons ?
Clinique, you’ve done it again!
I didn’t think I’d like the Clinique Sweet Pots Sugar Scrubs as much as I did. My previous experience with lip scrubs has been hit and miss – why bother with a crumbly sugar substance when you can just buff your lips with a tooth brush?!
But of course, with packaging as cute as this (anything inspired by Macaroons gets an instant nod of approval from me) I couldn’t wait to try them! They’re a double sided, two in one product with a scrub in one side and a tinted lip balm in the other, both of which can be used together to soothe and buff the lips before moisturising them and adding a hint of colour and shine.
The Scrub
Each pot opens up to reveal a teeny tiny section of what looks like a bubbly lip balm, and on first application, I barely picked up any of the sugary particles so was left a little disappointed and my lips were no smoother! But, determined to make this sweet little pot work, I mixed it up a little more, yes, things got a bit messy, and thankfully under the top layer there was a much more grainy scrub. Made up of beet sugar granules as well as butters and oils, the scrub isn’t as harsh as ones that you get from places like Lush but the results do speak for themselves – my lips were left feeling plump and soft despite the chapped state that they were in previously – triumph!
The Balm
A matching coloured balm is tucked within the other half of the product; 6 tinted balms are available inspired by Macaroon flavours like Red Velvet and Sweet Rose. I love tinted balm on days when I don’t want the maintenance of a lipstick, or want something sheer and subtle while also having some lovely moisture. The formula is rich and comfortable on the lips, leaving my lips glossy and moisturised for a couple of hours, and tinted for the whole morning. It may be a little too early to say, but I do feel that the balm helped to heal my lips following the chapped state that they were in; something which a cosmetic balm has never been able to do for me before!
Overall, I highly rate these balms – the packaging is simply adorable and I’ll absolutely love pulling one of these little pots out of my makeup bag while on the go. Retailing at £15 each I think they’re good value for a scrub and a balm, and both parts of the product were a pleasure to use.
The Clinique Sweet Pots Sugar Scrub & Lip Balms launch tomorrow and in stores, and I have a sneaky feeling that these may sell out so don’t wait around!
Will you be trying the new Clinique Sweet Pots?
