If you buy one Candle this Summer…
I didn’t used to love candles in Summer. Usually reserved for cosy evenings at home, a blanket to snuggle up in on the sofa, Dexter curled up next to me fast asleep and the room warm and glowing with the light from flickering flames.
Despite the warm temperatures and long light evenings lately, I’ve still found myself each evening striking a Jo Malone match-stick and enjoying the scent of their new Peony & Moss candle.
It’s not often that I dedicate a post to one product alone these days, but there are so many reasons why I adore this particular new launch, and also, I got totally carried away while photographing it, that I absolutely had to tell you all about it. Reasons Why I Love It…
- It’s absolutely ridiculously beautiful. This actually isn’t the number one reason that you should buy this candle actually, but given the fact that its stunning pink peony detailed glass is so photogenic and striking, I couldn’t not mention it! I adore the classic Jo Malone candle glass design, but when they bring out a limited edition candle such as the Peony and Moss, it really makes a statement. Currently the focal piece of our marble side table in the lounge, everyone entering the room makes a comment about it, and immediately wanders over and lifts the chunky silver lid to catch a note of the delicate fragrance.
- The aforementioned fragrance… Now, I am about to make a bold statement. I think, in fact, I know, that this has knocked Pomegranate Noir off the top spot, and I can confidently say that this is now my favourite Jo Malone Scent, ever. I never truly know what the scent of a Peony is, it’s impossible to describe but here goes. I’d say it’s not dis-similar to the fragrance of a rose, but lighter and more subtle. An easier scent to breathe when it fills the room, and the cassis within the candle makes it gentle and muted. It smells more luxurious than any candle I’ve smelt before, instantly elevating a room once it’s fragrance fills it.
- And most importantly – The Jo Malone London Peony & Moss Candle is this year’s Charity Candle. Each year, the brand create a candle to highlight their continued efforts with the Charity Gardens – small havens in London, Edinburgh, Liverpool, Bristol and Manchester offering a place for recovery, growth, and an opportunity to reconnect with a community. Each garden is a peaceful haven for rehabilitation and this year 75% of the retail price will go toward a new project with St Mungo’s charity for helping the homeless.
