How To Make An Outfit Your Own with Accessories

When it comes to the change in seasons, sometimes building an on-trend outfit can be difficult, especially when you want to remain on trend but without totally renewing your wardrobe. Instead of splashing out on statement pieces which are going to go out of fashion before the end of the year, I prefer to update my look with a few key accessories instead.

Don’t worry, a new designer bag and expensive shoes are not necessary, but instead here are some of my affordable favourites to transform your day to day outfits into stylish Autumn ensembles.

First, Handbags

Even the simplest of looks (I’m talking jeans and a white T-shirt) can be taken from basic to street-style-shot-ready in seconds with just one item, that’s the power of accessories. You can opt for something bold, like a pair of printed boots, or something more classic but on trend, such as a tortoise shell effect heel.

One of my favourite ways to bring a basic outfit into the current season’s trends is to search the high street for good quality, designer inspired bags. While I wish I had the budget to splash out on a new Gucci or Chloe bag each time a new style drops, it simply isn’t realistic – but luckily the high street always offers some seriously stylish alternatives.

My current favourite is this silver cross body bag from. Definitely designer inspired but without being a knock-off, it’s on trend and goes well with endless outfit options. Important for me too is that it holds my iPhone 6 Plus as well as my camera, purse and other small essentials.

The Finer Details..

Delicate jewellery is a go to for me, no matter what season we are in. This autumn is no different and my favourite pieces from JewelleryBox compliment every outfit, meaning I don’t need to splash out on new jewellery for each look I pull together. If, like me, you tend to purchase jewellery pieces and then wear them non stop – opt for simple and classic designs. I adore the delicate chain of this 18ct rose gold bracelet and finds that it layers so easily with other pieces in my collection.

My new rose gold earrings from JewelleryBox are equally as unique as they are wearable – I can’t even remember the last time I wore hanging earrings – I just find them too uncomfortable and heavy! So the huge selection of studs on the JewelleryBox website is my go to destination when hunting for a new pair.

Where I do like to get a little more playful is within my ring collection. I have a few rings which I never remove including the one Charlie bought me on our first anniversary, from Hatton Garden, but the inexpensive rings from JewelleryBox make for perfect stacking rings, including my daisy chain midi ring which has become my go-to piece for adding some style to my ring selection.

I can’t be without my sunglasses and this is one area that I do like to splurge a little – simply because they’re always so visible! When I’m not protecting my eyes with them, I wear my sunnies as an accessory in my hair, and my current favourite is this pair of Valentino Wayfarers. I love that they don’t have nose pieces meaning there’s nothing to catch in my hair, and the contemporary wayfarer fram style and classic yet subtle Valentino rockstuds won’t be going out of favour any time soon.

Not Forgetting Footwear…

And finally, of no surprise to anyone who follows me on my social channels – this gorgeous pair of loafers from . Yep, you read that right, these are from the high street. Unashamedly inspired by the Gucci Autumn loafers, this pair will sell out soon at just £55 – they look like they hold a much higher price tag and instantly add a touch of luxury to an ootd. I don’t usually opt for black accessories, but couldn’t resist when I spotted this pair.

As a whole, loafers, shoes with buckles, and tassels are going to be key footwear trends this season, and while the designers are always one step ahead, the highstreet is fast catching up. As always, keep an eye on my Twitter and Instagram to see which pieces I’ve been snapping up!

What are your favourite accessories for Autumn?
