Do you ever find yourself getting swept away with beauty brands, new launches, new innovations? I most definitely do. I will discover a new favourite, pledge to love it always, but soon a new exciting launch comes along and the previous favourite is all but forgotten. If you’ve been reading Fashion Mumblr for over a year (thank you!) then you may recall my total infatuation with a certain mascara. Seventeen Falsifeye HD mascara was the one that restored my faith in affordable mascaras, and I reached for it on a daily basis over my more expensive options. Somehow, regrettably it fell to the wayside and it’s just recently that we’ve been re-united, and along with it, a rediscovery on creating a bold and stylish eye look using affordable Seventeen product, as opposed to my regular one-colour wash over. As we ‘grow up’ we often create shortcuts in our beauty routines, opting for the simple 5 minute fix, and potentially forgetting the impact that a few extra moments spent on our beauty routines can have on the overall look. Blown away by the stunning colour selection in the Easy on the Eyes palette, I decided to experiment with a mixture of the beautiful matte, shimmer, powder and cream textures to build up a wearable, sophisticated eye look that would work for both day time and evening wear. The results? I think I’ve found a new favourite. I like to build an eye look in a step by step approach, seeing what works, what looks good, and altering my colour choices accordingly. I guess you could compare my eyeshadow application style to a paint by numbers process; 1 – a base colour in a natural tone (number 6 within the palette) to wash over the entire eyelid. This creates a ‘your skin but better’ effect and acts as a base colour for the rest of the look. I apply it over the lid, and about a third of the way up to my brow, ensuring the blend thoroughly so that there are no visible lines. It should blend seamlessly into the skin. 2 – a crease colour in a deeper shade (number 8 within the palette). This can be shimmer or matte, depending on your mood or the occasion! Here I chose a warm brown shimmer for a glamorous day time look. Keeping my eye open, I load a fluffy eyeshadow brush and apply in a semi circle following the crease of my eyelid. Once again, this should be blended fully, with more colour built up in the outer corner of the eye. 3 – a shimmer pop! Totally optional of course, but to make an eye look truly pop I love to apply a dab of shimmer or a lighter shade (number 11 within the palette) just in the centre of my eyelid. Within the Easy on the Eyes palette there is a perfect creamy shimmer shade which I apply by pressing my finger onto the cream, then lightly onto my eyelid. It catches the light beautifully and makes for a mesmerising finish. 4 – a brow highlight. This makes a lot of difference and is just so easy to do. Choose the lightest shade in the eyeshadow palette (number 2) and take a clean brush, plenty of product on the brush, and sweep it under the tail end of your brow. This lifts the brow subtly, giving you a more wide eyed flattering look! Finishing touches – I apply the fabulous Falsifeye HD mascara to complete the look; the stiff long bristles work the formula onto even the shortest of lashes giving a full fluttery look, without overloading with product. Lashes are coated with the glossy formula, but it dries quickly meaning you can build up a few layers of mascara if you’re after even thicker mascara. I was thrilled to discover that it now comes in brown which I personally prefer for a daytime look as it’s softer, especially if you’re fair and blonde like myself! As well as absolutely ticking every box in the eye department, I’ve loved discovering other aspects of the Seventeen beauty range; their shimmer brick is a wonderful mutli-use product. I take an angled face brush to apply it as a shimmering highlighter, or you can select a shade from the palette with a smaller brush to use as eyeshadow. Their blushers are flattering matte shades which look simply beautiful on all skin tones – and the best part is their affordability, with the entire brand’s price range from ££ to ££. Have you made any beauty rediscoveries lately? I’d love to know if you’ve tried the Seventeen palettes – were you as impressed as I was?
