How To Style A Maxi Skirt For Autumn
Is it strange that I actually feel a lot more comfortable in a skirt than I do a pair of jeans? There’s something about the sophistication and feminine elegance that a skirt brings to an outfit with such ease that draws me to them. Maxi Skirts are not only comfortable (many with their elasticated waistbands giving you more room to eat!) or the often very flattering and elongating items of clothing to wear but they’re surprisingly really versatile too. They’re easy to add layers to or hide layers underneath which make them the perfect transitional piece for the Autumn season; either when days are super chilly or when others are warm with the sun shining. This alone makes a maxi skirt the perfect piece to wear for fall.
During the colder months it can often be challenging to stay chic whilst keeping warm but thanks to the maxi skirt there’s no need for your wardrobe too suffer. My and matching combination is this affordable sateen maxi skirt from Miss Selfridge and these khaki green block heel boots. The autumnal olive green colour of both the skirt and boots is a real statement and means you will stand out in a sea of dreary hues.
Maxi skirts can sometimes be a little long so if you’re concerned about drowning in a maxi skirt, it’s important to first of all consider the length. An ankle grazing skirt is universally flattering and allows you to show off a little bit of skin. But if you find that they all seem too long opt for an accessory that always works so well with maxi skirts; a classic pair of block heel ankle boots. Of course you could also go for a pair of to provide even more warmth but by ensuring you wear even a small heel, it will instantly elevate the outfit.
For a day at work, opt for a fitted jumper to ensure the look stays elegant and polished or for dinner swap in a silky blouse to truly elevate the look. This was an investment piece at just under £100 but I cannot fault its quality or design. The slim fitted jumper provides a touch of femininity with a hint of pink silk running through the frills on the neck line and cuffs. Another trend we can tick off, not to mention the amount of use I have got out of this jumper already and it’s only October! For a casual day out with friends, perhaps opt for a chunky over sized knit with a belt to cinch in your waist or choose a coat to do this for you. I’ve chosen to pair the outfit with my which not only emphasises the autumnal hues but at £25 it’s a great way to add that designer luxe feel to your outfit.
As a fashion blogger, no look is complete unless I have a , and selection of on! Since the outfit itself is rather statement, I’ve chosen classic jewellery to simply elevate the outfit without looking like I’ve even tried. They add interest and sparkle without detracting from the look.
