How My Style Has Changed Since Being a Bride To Be

Romantic, Feminine, Ethereal…

… these are words you’d use to describe bridal style, and as I look back over how my personal style has evolved over the past 8 months since my engagement, it seems obvious that these characteristics have found their way into my ‘everyday’ wardrobe too. While wearing a fabulous full length tulle gown isn’t quite everyday attire, the feminine design details that the style is based on have certainly impacted what I look for in my chosen garments, and I have to admit, I love how the bride-to-be mindset has impacted my style.

Let’s be honest, for many of us one of the best bits of our wedding day (aside from the obvious, marrying our favourite person in the world, and spending time with loved ones, and eating your body weight in cake) is getting dressed up in what is most probably the most fabulous gown you’ve worn in your life, and when you’ve got a wedding to plan there are certainly plenty of other occasions to get dressed up too, whether that’s your engagement party, the bridal shower or the rehearsal event, and since browsing the , I have found plenty of inspiration on how I’ll be dressing up for these events.

While these full length gowns by would be more than suitable for your actual wedding ceremony, they also make for fabulous outfits for your pre-wedding events, or even for balls, a prom, or a dazzling dinner party. For slightly less formal affairs, design details such as intricate embellishment, feminine frills and delicate materials can also work for your more casual wardrobe, without compromising on elegant, feminine style. The collage above includes a few of my favourite pieces inspired by bridal designs; the pale pink, form fitting silk blend skirt with the beautiful ruffle detail from makes for a fabulous addition to an elevated everyday wardrobe, worn perhaps with a silk blouse, or could be worn with an embellished top for an evening occasion.

Shopping for bridal wear has certainly amped up my adoration of lace and ruffles, so this dress also by is at the very top of my lust list, the pastel pink hue would make for a fabulous shade to wear to a wedding, or other Summer event, while the lace detail and feminine form make it a timeless piece to wear season after season.

As well as the extravagant full length gowns pictured, also have shorter styles which may work for less formal occasions, summer parties, days at the polo and other lovely events, and the selection on NET-A-PORTER is always second to none.

Bridal Inspired Accessories

Being a bride-to-be has also inspired my accessories, and whether that’s a cleverly worded sun hat to wear on post-engagement beach holidays, or the perfect pair of sandals for the honeymoon and beyond, once again there is a fabulous selection on NET-A-PORTER. My current favourite ‘Otherwise Engaged’ straw hat is such a fun (and photogenic!) piece, one that I’ll be wearing on beach trips long after our nuptials, while my increased obsession of all things white has lead to two new Valentino purchases in the form of these unbelievably comfortable and versatile sandals and statement clutch bag.
