The Wedding Guest Beauty Edit

Spring wedding season has officially kicked off – my instagram is filled with beautiful bouquets and glowing brides, and whether you’re walking down the aisle or just showing up and dancing the night away, it’s important to think carefully about your makeup! Staying power and looking good in the photos are the most important thing – with photographers everywhere and some weddings starting at the break of dawn and continuing into the small hours, it’s definitely advisable to put in a little extra effort and consideration for the products you use. Here are my tips for looking flawless all day long, as well as some product recommendations to have you feeling fabulous.

Give your makeup a head start by
preparing with a multi-tasking serum – I like to go with something moisturizing
and full of skin loving ingredients so that I know my complexion will be
looking and feeling fab for the whole day. With shots of coffee bean, acai berry and
essential fatty acids, the Antipodes Worship Serum is a fabulous choice, apply to face and neck before moisturizing to give your
skin a pre-wedding day boost.

Tip number one is too apply your makeup in thin
layers. Applying products slowly means more control (you don’t want mismatch
smoky eyes!) and ensures that it lasts all day and night. For a finish that
looks flawless in photos and also gives a natural glow I’ll be choosing the new
(the clue is in the name!) available from ASOS Beauty. It’s highly pigmented so be sure to create some
shape with a contour kit and blush.  are long lasting and give a silky, matte finish – the delicate shades are ideal
for a natural look for a Spring wedding too.

You definitely don’t want your base to budge, so
choose a setting powder which won’t leave a trace on your skin, but adds hours
worth of staying power to your makeup. I highly recommend the – it’s a new discovery for me
after I visitied the counter in Liberty and I’m already telling everyone I know
about how amazing this powder is. It is completely invisible on, but was
created especially for high definition cameras (I use it for filming now)
giving a flawless matte finish. It doesn’t dry out the skin, but just gently
sets foundation while also giving a fabulous blurring effect to pores and
imperfections.

As for the eyes, I prefer the natural look if I’m the
guest (lips are more fun!) so I’ll be choosing a palette such as the Too FacedNatural Eyes which has everything you need for the prettiest of smoky eyes. All within a
cute case, it’s nice and compact for popping in your overnight bag and inside
are nine matte and shimmery shades as well as a mirror for on the go touch ups.
Going for bold lips means a big cat eye flick is out of the question, so
instead, add definition with a super skinny liquid liner such as the
(can you tell I’m becoming a little
obsessed with this brand!) it’s smooth and silky, with intense colour payoff and serious lasting power –
exactly what you need for a long day of photos and dancing!

If you can’t bear to apply false lashes in
the early hours of the morning, or find them annoying (I personally
don’t think I could handle falsies for a full day!) then you need a mega
plumping, volumising, thickening mascara, and for me, there’s only one choice.
.
I tried this out upon Sabrina’s recommendation and havn’t looked back – each
lash gets coated in intense black pigment and is inflated with the collagen
formula. Just one coat gives a powerful lash, but three coats later and you’ll
have the most intense, chunky lashes you could ever have imagined!

For brows you want something natural
but long lasting – I am loving using powders on my brows at the moment and find
that the Paul & Joe brow palette (that adorable pink circular product in
the top pic) gives the most natural looking shade for my blondey brown brows.
Using a brow brush, you can blend the two shades (see them in detail in this post) so that you can match them to your natural brow colour. Plus, it’s SO darn
cute!!!
The final makeup step, lips! Now of
course the colour that you choose depends on your skin tone, outfit, general
mood of the day etc but I’m 99.9% sure that I’ll be reaching for one of two
options for any Spring weddings. Firstly,  which has all the
wearability of your favourite lip lacquer but with a creamy matte finish. It’s
highly moisturizing too so comfortable to wear, you’ll forget you’re even
wearing anything! It won’t budge – so no need for constant trips to the ladies
for touch ups between photo sessions!
My latest obsession is the Too Faced Melted lipstick (which you’ll already know if you follow me
over on Instagram!) and not only because they’re extremely beautiful to look
at, but because the formula is seriously fabulous too. The colour stains lips
and gives an intense coverage just like a lipstick, but with the shine of a
gloss. It’s unlike anything I’ve tried before but somehow it’s comfortable and
moisturizing on the lips but the saturated colour again lasts for hours and
hours. Love.
As for wedding day hair, it’s probably
not the right time to try something new, but reach for your trusty favourites
to ensure your style looks flawless. I’ll be reaching for the John Freida
Blonde range to ensure my colour looks fabulous and then using the to give a very
lightweight finish to my style – it smooths down any flyaway or frizzy hairs
and also helps to block out humidity – so ideal if you’ll be spending part of
the day outside!
The final touch to your wedding beauty
edit is of course your fragrance of choice. It’s a very personal decision so
tailoring a scent to suit you perfectly is a lovely idea. Lots of the Jo Malone
fragrances can be layered to create a fragrance that only you can wear, but one which is gorgeous on its own, is their new . Perfect for warmer days this blossom-y (no surprises there) scent just
screams Spring Weddings to me. It’s almost sexy for a floral scent, I think
it’s those woody under tones, and the crisp notes are perfectly balanced with
the floral elements. It’s a strong one so lasting power throughout the special
day won’t be a problem – just be prepared to have hundreds of relatives asking
which fragrance you’re wearing as trust me, it’s a conversation starter!
