Guerlain Spring Summer 16
My love for has grown hugely over the last few months. Not only because each and every item is encased in the most beautiful packaging, but because the assortment of products that I have recent been introduced to are now firm essentials in my makeup collection.
Founded back in 1828, Guerlain has grown into one of the world’s most iconic perfume houses, and many pieces from this new collection are inspired by their fragrance (more on that later!). From the primer, to the powder, this collection holds so many of my new beauty favourites which I can not wait to share with you.
It seems right to start with the primer, and Guerlain’s Météorites base is a skin perfecting wonder product – the rosy fresh glow that it gives is addictive, creating the most beautiful base for your makeup. Rosy pearls are suspended within the glass bottle, but turn into a glowing serum upon application. It gives a fresh glow whilst still controlling excess oils – absolutely perfect if you have combination skin but still desire that healthy complexion.
Also within the Météorites collection is the beyond stunning . Encased within the most beautiful silver compact (right), the palette contains a mix of corrective pastel shades which neutralise any unwanted shades in the skin to give the complexion a healthy natural shade. Made with pressed pearls, the complexion is illuminated in a satin-like way, giving a long lasting controlled glow.
La Petite Robe Noire
Let’s begin once again with the beauty of the bottle of . The heart-shaped lid which is seen also throughout the makeup line alludes to the shape of the original bottle of classic Guerlain fragrances. Fading up from black to a powdery pink with a silhouette sketch of a little black dress, with scrolling edges and crystal-like transparency it really is a pleasure to see. The scent is bold and romantic, but with a darkness quite unlike anything within my fragrance collection. Black cherry is the first note I recognised, followed by berries and almonds bringing a warmth to the otherwise sweet scent. It’s somehow mischievous, yet feminine and powerful – the kind of scent you want to make your signature.
Inspired by the fragrance, collection has a fruity and floral fragrance making it a pleasure to apply at home, and the long lasting shine rivals any salon manicure. With the iconic heart shaped lid to the bottle, it sits perfectly within the La Petite Robe Noire collection.
Also scented with notes of bergamot, rose and raspberry is the – with a great range of colours from the most bold fuchsia to the everyday nude, each has that delicate and instantly recognisable scent. Texture wise the lips feel soft and comfortable, the colour is intense but soft and can be layered for a bold pay off. Beige Lingerie is a personal favourite – the most beautiful soft pink which is perfect for those mid morning top ups.
Guerlain Bronzer Trio
When it comes to selecting a Summer bronzer, Guerlain has spoilt us for choice. With four in the collection you’re sure to find your perfect shade and type. If, like me you love to enhance your complexion with self tan, then perhaps the would be a wise choice. With four shades within the compact you can mix and blend for an even glow, or swirl your blush over the lighter or darker shades depending on your skin colour. I use it for sculpting and adding natural flow to my face using a bronzer blush and a smaller contour blush too.
The most beautiful of the three is the (left); a softer bronzer perfect for lighter skins or for those first rays of sun during Spring time. With pearlescent particles like the Meteorites compact, the result is a sheer and luminous finish. With different tones for blondes and brunettes, a rosy or coral glow will add radiance in a shade that best suits you.
Classic and legendary for good reason, the has become my favourite of the three. Giving a luminous and radiant tan, the powder juxtaposes any preconceptions by offering moisturisation and long lasting comfort, quite unlike any other powder I’ve tried. It’s light, natural and everything I look for in a quality bronzer.
Terracotta Joli Teint
If you find the glow from a beautiful bronzer addictive then you’ll love the as much as I do. All my beauty prayers answered in one single product – and an absolute essential for the beauty lover on the go. With the powers of skincare ingredients fighting fatigue and a dull complexion, the coverage and perfection of a foundation and the sun-kissed finish of a Terracotta bronzer, the Joli Teint is a beautiful multi tasker. A beach essential and an everyday treat, this small but beautiful bottle is my not-so-secret weapon for radiant and flawless skin.
Ecrin Couleur
If you choose to spend over £20 on a single eyeshadow, then it’s essential that it works for you every day, for every makeup look. The in taupe does precisely that – a delicate shade which is universally flattering – whether worn on it’s own with a dash of mascara, or the most beautiful base for your evening eye look. With Guerlain’s Listener Technology, the pigments won’t budge after a day of wear, and it’s as comfortable as wearing nothing at all. Encased within a golden compact complete with mirror and brush, it’s a luxury you’ll love to use.
