How to Invest in Timeless Fashion

I like to think of my style as timeless, feminine, and classic.

I buy a mixture of high street and premium pieces, but always with the intention of investing in quality pieces that will provide me with excellent cost per wear. This means that when I do splurge on higher end pieces from stores such as Club Monaco, Reiss etc, I like to ensure that they’re pieces that will work in my wardrobe for years to come. Very rarely have I ever regret one of my higher end purchases, whether that’s spending a few hundred pounds on a bracelet, or on a pastel coloured blouse.

In this outfit for example, you may not think that investing in an embellished skirt is the most practical decision. At just under £200, it’s far from affordable fashion, but having bought the blue version of this skirt last year (also scalloped, white but with blue embellishments) and worn it at least 30 times, I knew I’d get just as much use if not more from the pink version. A piece that works for daytime and evening alike, it’s a versatile piece, and truly sums up my favourite trends, while still being elegant and timeless. Most importantly; I adore it, and it sparks joy whenever I wear it. It’s girly, feminine and fun – and whenever I wear it I simply feel fabulous!

Equally my jewellery, particularly my bracelets are investment pieces too, but as I wear these rose gold designs almost every single day, it’s something that I’ve never regret splashing out on. Brands such as Monica Vinader give excellent timeless designs, beautiful quality, and the detail and finishes add a luxe touch to your outfit, making even the most basic jeans and a white tee outfit look perfectly polished.

My other accessories however are all affordable; my bag is a dupe of a designer bag, and my shoes are also inspired by something far more expensive. Accessories are an affordable way to work trends into your outfits, but without having to break the bank. My faux suede jacket is also affordable, but still feels and looks luxe. Keep your eye on highstreet stores such as River Island, Topshop and Mango for great quality pieces like this; as well as on your Instagram feed! As myself and other bloggers will always let you know when we spot a gem like this!

In this #ootd, I also invested in this pink top. It’s the kind of piece that works with so many outfits. Jeans, skirts, high waisted shorts and smart trousers will all work wonderfully with this blush pink high necked top. It’s a slightly thicker material making it warm and luxe, but as it’s short sleeved, it works for Summer too. I can truly imagine wearing this piece all year round, once again offering fabulous price per wear.

To summarise, trust your instinct. If you love something and it has timeless appeal, chances are it’s worth the investment.
