I’ve recently expanded my makeup brush collection and have been experimenting with different brush types with my favourite makeup products. Having played around with various options, I now think I’ve figured out which brushes work well certain foundations, blushers, powders etc so I thought I would do a mini series on my perfect pairings! Starting with foundation brushes, here are my perfect pairs;
& : With liquid foundations it can be hard to get a flawless finish without your brush making the foundation look streaky or uneven. The MAC Duo Fibre is the best brush I’ve found for the Clinique foundation as it blends everything in without soaking up any of the product.
& Real Techniques Buffing Brush: When a foundation is a bit thicker, like the Hourglass, a dense brush is great for blending in the product without making it look cakey. The RT Buffing Brush is ideal for seamless blending and ensuring an even coverage.
Rimmel Lasting Finish & : The densely packed brush head made with synthetic bristles is ideal for building coverage in layers until you reach your desired finish. I reach for this with the Rimmel foundation as my everyday makeup to ensure an even and flawless complexion that will last all day.
& Zoeva Silk Finish Brush: The Clarins foundation is quite runny but gives the most beautiful glow when applied correctly. I find I need to build it up, and the Zoeva brush gives a great finish; the density of the bristles and flexibility of the fibres makes blending easy peasy, and it works its way into all the little corners!
& Crown Brush C404 Small Duo Fibre Face Brush: Like a smaller, more precise version of the MAC 187 brush, this brush made from natural and synthetic fibres is ideal for a lighter application. So on days when I want a light, natural cover, I use this to smoothly blend in the NARS tinted moisturiser. The result is a flawless, light and even coverage.
